New paper: microwave remote sensing of photosynthesis

A new paper investigates the possibility to observe plant photosynthesis with microwave satellites. Irene Teubner, a PhD student within the CLIMERS group, investigated how vegetation optical depth, a vegetation property from passive and active (Radar) microwave satellites, relates to gross primary production, i.e. the uptake of CO2 by plants during photosynthesis. This publication will hopefully open a new field of research in which photosynthesis will be estimated from microwave satellite observations.
