New paper on using satellite observations to predict wildfires

A new modeling concept was developed to predict wildfire burned area from satellite and climate data. The model approach allows to explore the relative roles of weather, vegetation, and humans on the development of fires. The paper was led by Matthias Forkel and has been published in Geoscientific Model Development:
